THE POWER OF COMMUNITY
Our individual stories vary. We grew up feeling connected to seemingly different landscapes. From arid deltas surrounded by mesquite thorn brush to ancient rivers and endless mountain ranges - each land seamlessly connected to the next. We were actually never any different. The region known as La Gran Chichimeca was not only home to these many landscapes, but also to its many inhabitants. Our ancestors moved effortlessly through this land, a natural part of the ecosystems that thrived within.
Years of conquest, forced assimilation, the destruction of our languages, lifeways, cultures - have left us divided and complacent. Our life’s work is to return to a way of life, a wisdom, that inherently lives dormant inside of us. We’ve begun to welcome the next generations, we carry two children in our semi nomadic group. They are the reflection of our survival, our ancestors in the flesh. This work is dedicated to them and to all the children that are coming - may they have a fighting chance at returning to what is natural and precious, to protect and care for all that is endangered under this capitalistic global rule.
During our travels, we offer our knowledge and labor to any relatives taking part in the following
Helping to provide aid to refugees and immigrants affected by the border wall that has historically divided our cultures and identities
Land projects moving toward regenerative practices
Natural / ancestral building
Livestock/animal raising lifeways
Looking to host cultural gatherings/knowledge shares amongst peoples
